ODAC DIAMETER AND OVALITY GAUGE

RODER Electronics proposes a system's series for the diameter and ovality gauge  of :

MDS family systems allow diameter and ovality gauge of product that are in transit on the production line.

MDS family systems are employed.....

- for pipes, section bars, drawns, bars, poles, etc... gauge.
MDS systems are employed with succes for ovality and diameter gauge in production processes of welded and drawned pipes, in the extrusion and profile drawing sector, in the mechanical workings and welding of continuous products sector.

- when it is necessary to gauge an object diameter in more than two sectors.
MDS systems allow the object gauge from a minimum of 2 sections until to a maximum of 8 sections. The measure is carried out by laser micrometres disposed in a way to obtain an only surface of gauge. This technique allows to obtain the contemporary gauge of more diameters ojn the same section by highlighting in real time eventual ovalities or diameter differences on various gauge angles (gauge difficultly obtainable with the traditional gauge methods in the production line).

- when the object dimension is higher to the gauge field of an only instrument.
MDS systems allow the object gauge also of very high dimensions (until 1000 mm of diameter) and with precisions also of 0.01 mm on more sections of the object.

- when it is necessary an elaboration of acquired data.
MDS systems are realized with the objective to supply to the final customer a gauge apparatus that totally satisfies the real productive and organizational requirements. It's for this that RODER Electronics couples with the MDS software systems two tipologies of software: a standard software and a personalized software. The standard software previews a series of functions generally employed from the final user (datalogger, trend generation, report, database management, alarm generation, password management, etc...). In alternative to the standard software RODER Electronics can supply a personalized software version of sistem management. In this case the software will be realized holding present the particular requirements of the final user and it will become a personalized software package.

- when is demanded a process regulation or an automatic control of the working parameters.
MDS systems allow the connection with PCL or line supervisors for the data exchange through the most modern communication protocols. The acquired or processed data from the system can be employed for the regulation in real time of the production process.

- when is demanded a product certification.
MDS systems can be a valid instruments of product certification and of the production process. Not only is possible to emit documents that attest the happened control at 100% of the product in transit on the production line, but it is also possible to connect the MDS system control emplacement to an eventual network of data acquisition for the already existing quality control or transfer acquired data towards existing database.

MDS is a modular laser system for the on line control of outside diameter of continuous products like iron tubes, cables, drawns, etc...

MAIN FUNCTIONS

- It provides to gauge diameter and ovality from 0,012 to 310 mm using single or dual axis callipers in according to the gauge range and the product type to gauge.

- It records and prints minimum, maximum and average values read along the product and triggers suitable sorting signals in real time.

- It automatically regulated the process to maintain the product in tolerance.

- It can be easily interfaced with outside computers for the data check or distant planning.

- It elaborates and prints process statistics.


HOW DOES IT OPERATE?

MDS system gauges with high precision the product outside diameter (it is able to find until four diameters on the same product section) by the employment of laser beams.

In systems where is used a dual axis laser calliper (XY) is possible to control also the product ovality that doesn't rotate around its axis: on spinning products the ovality calculus is not possible and X and Y measures are processed in an indipendent way
.

The signals of laser calliper are processed by a PCL control emplacement which is able to constantly compare the measured diameter with the nominal value entered by the operator:when a product exit from the planning nominal value, the MDS software automatically adjusts the process to maintain always the product in tolerance.
In case of any out-of-tolerance measures, alarm signals are activated to drive sorting or/and rejecting devices. Control sensors without contact allow to obtain accuracy and reliable gauges also in hostile environments where there are strong vibrations and big speed.

In this way the total inspection makes random sample checks redundant and allows the printing of detailed reports to prove product quality.

HOW DOES IT WORK...

The laser light calliper by RODER Electronics use a laser diode as light source to produce a thin beam collimated on the object to be measured. During its scanning period in the gauge field the laser beam intercepts the object being measured and casts its shadow to the receiver. The shadow duration is proportional to the transversal dimension of the product to measure, while the light duration is related to the object position in the measure field.
Inside the receiver a lens gathers all the light from the transmitter and concentrates it on an high speed photo diode which converts light/shadows times and obtains the position and diameter gauges.
